Fort Orange, Itamaraca Island, Pernambuco, Brazil

The place for fun, history, nature and dining!
Fort Orange is a superbly restored fortification originally built by the Dutch (hence the name) in the 17th Century on the Southern end of the island of Itamaraca. The beaches around the fort have developed over time into the main holiday area of the island . There are many bars and restaurants backing the beach, a nature reserve for manatee and the pick up point for boats to take you out to the unbelievable little islet of Coro Do Avio.

Access is excellent, there are shops in the area and it has become a very populat place to holiday or live permanaently.

Finally I have attached some pictures from the personal collection taken on the island by Christopher Sellars who I met through “Facebook”. They tell you a lot more than I ever could!
